vocabulary. Every word out of this bird's mouth was rude and obnoxious, and laced with profanity.

John was having lots of company during the Thanksgiving holiday, so he worked hard at trying to change this bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music, and anything else he could think of to clean up this bird's act.

Finally, John was fed up and yelled at the parrot. The parrot lyelled back. John shook the parrot, and the parrot got angrier and ruder. In desperation, John threw up his hands, grabbed the parrot, and put him in the freezing compartment of his refrigerator.

For a few minutes, the parrot squawked and kicked, screamed; and then suddenly there was quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute, and John thought that he had hurt the parrot. So, he quickly opened the door to the freezer, and the parrot walked out onto John's outstretched arm.

The parrot turned to John, and he said, "I am sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions, and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. He was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in its behavior when the bird continued, "But could I ask just one question?

"What did the turkey do?""

The skeptic swore, "There is no God! No God! - I
can do anything I want! I'm more animal than
human; so-called human intelligence escapes
me. I flunked 'wisdom.' I see no evidence of
a holy God. Has anyone ever seen Anyone
climb into Heaven and take charge? grab
the winds and control them? gather the
rains in his bucket? stake out the ends
of the earth? Just tell me his name,
tell me the names of his sons.
Come on now - tell me!"
The believer replied, "Every promise of God proves
true; he protects every one who runs to him for help.
So don't second-guess him; he might take you to
task and show up your lies." And then he prayed,
"God, I'm asking for two things before I die; don't
refuse me - Banish lies from my lips and liars
from my presence. Give me enough food
to live on, neither too much nor too little.
If I'm too full, I might get independent,
saying, 'God? Who needs him?'
If I'm poor, I might steal and
dishonor the name of
my God."
Psalm 30:1-9
The Message

This I Know

God knows who belongs to him.
II Timothy 2:19

I do not know what next may come
Across my pilgrim way,
I do not know tomorrow's road
Nor see beyond today,
But this I know - My Savior knows
The path I cannot see
And I can trust His wounded hand
To guide and care for me.

I do not know what may befall
Of sunshine or of rain.
I do not know what may be mine
Of pleasure or of pain.
But this I know - My Savior knows
and whatsoe'er it be
Still I can trust His love to give
What will be best for me.

I do not know what still awaits
Or what the morrow brings,
But with the glad salute of faith
I hail its opening wings!
For this I know - That in My Lord
Shall all my needs be met,
And I can trust the heart of Him
Who has not failed me yet..
