Ode to Ben
- "Where was God?"
The young man said.
"Where was God
When my brother lay dead?
I cannot believe
That God can exist.
Why didn't He make
That bullet miss?
Why did he allow
My mother to die?
There can be no God,
It must be a lie.
Why did they suffer?
Why must we grieve?
If there is a God
Why no reprieve?
My brother was young.
My mother was kind.
God forgot about us
Who were left behind.
I look back in anger
And all I can see,
Is a trail of pain
For my family and me."
- Oh Ben, my dear,
How can I explain,
When I know so well
That you still feel pain?
But Ben, God is here
For you and for me.
He understands our pain
And He can see
How we suffer,
When someone we lose;
Please believe me,
He is one who knows.
He gave His Son
To die on a cross.
He comprehends
Our sense of loss.
- But when we die
It is not the end.
Jesus is there
At our journey's end.
- Meanwhile in the World
The Devil exists,
Controlling life
With some terrible twists
Of fate that cause us death
Through sickness and sin.
But we have to believe
That God will win.
That one day, as written,
All sin will be dealt with,
For this is the truth,
It is not a myth.
- God showed us through Jesus
That He is real.
Jesus rose from the dead,
As evidence can reveal.
Try to see God
Give Him some merit,
For He can help you
Through His Holy Spirit.
He helps to bring us through
When the going gets tough.
God wants to help us
Through the smooth and the rough.
Life is not easy;
Sometimes we won't see
That God sent Jesus
To save you and me.
So when you feel down
Just look up above
And accept that it's you, Ben
Whom God wishes to love.
- from a loving Aunt

- With Love From Jesus
- My love for you is perfect,
Unconditional and true.
For you are my child,
I created you.
To me you are more valuable
Than any precious stone,
So accept my Holy Spirit
And make your heart my own.
I will make you strong and free
If you submit your will to me.
- L. Tedman

- Fear
- Fear comes from Satan,
Of that there is no doubt,
So when you feel threatened
Get out there and shout,
"I belong to Jesus,
His armour is my shield.
You can fire your slings and arrows,
To you I will not yield.
I will not succumb to pain and doubt,
I will never be your victim,
God's Spirit dwells within me,
I can depend on Him.
So get lost you poor deceiver
And take your minions too,
For Jesus sent His Spirit
To combat fools like you.
Jesus has the victory,
He has overcome,
He'll throw you in the Lake of Fire
And ashes you'll become.
I will stand firm in Jesus,
He is my shield and sword.
I can rely on Jesus, for
I believe God's Word."
- L. Tedman

- Alone
- "Nobody loves me."
Yes, they do.
"Nobody cares."
Yes, they do.
"I have no friends."
Yes, you have.
"I have no family."
You have a friend and a brother.
"A brother?"

- You are special,
Unique as no other.
Jesus is your friend
And He is your brother.
He is with you always,
Though you are unaware,
He waits to carry you,
He is full of care.
So pray to Him,
Give Him your emptiness,
He will reward you,
You will find happiness.
Follow Him faithfully,
With all your heart,
And peace unto you
He will impart.
When you feel abandoned
And lonely too,
Just remember that
JESUS LOVES YOU.
- L. Tedman

- Frightened
- We need never fear,
For now we are free.
Jesus died to save us.
He won the victory
Over pain and darkness,
Over slavery and sin,
Over Satan and his demons.
His Holy Spirit dwells within
Us, helping us to feel secure.
We have victory over Satan's power,
Of this we can be sure.
Satan fires his missiles,
Causing crises day by day,
But God's Holy Spirit in us
Can keep our pain at bay.
Put on God's armour to shield you,
To protect you from your foe.
God's armour will defend you
And enable you to grow.
We can travel through the bad times
With Jesus as our guide,
Loving and supporting us,
For He is on our side.
So remember when you're hurting,
You can find the strength to cope.
Reach to the Holy Spirit,
Don't go down the slippery slope,
Of giving in to fear and doubt,
Of giving in to sorrow.
Reach for the love of Jesus
As you face each new tomorrow.
- L. Tedman

- Depression
The Pit
Darkness, Despair.
Pain
Rejection
Pills
Darkness, Despair.
Listless
Lethargic
Unmotivated
Isolated
Darkness, Despair.
Awaken
Drift
Aimless
Pointless
Lifeless
Darkness, Despair.
WHO CARES?

- I CARE.
I can help you.
I can strengthen you.
I Am with you.
Turn to me.
Receive my Spirit.
Change your life.
You are not alone.
Seek my Light.
Do not drift.
Seek my path
And find the point of life.
I AM.
I am your Father.
I LOVE YOU.
Jesus.
- L. Tedman

- Worthy?
- Worthy? Am I worthy
To receive God's love,
Me a mortal sinner,
Am I really good enough?

- My child, you are worthy
If of sin you repent
It was just for you
That Jesus was sent.

- God loves you so much
That He sent His only Son
To suffer for you,
God's will was done.

- Turn from your sin
Ask God to forgive.
Accept His Holy Spirit.
In peace you will live.

- So talk to the Lord
For He is your friend.
He is always here.
On Him we can depend.
- L. Tedman

Be Positive
- The Lord gave us
His cross to bear,
At times we wonder why,
When we are lost and in despair,
We just reach out and cry,
"Lord where are you?
Why am I so alone?
I cannot find you."
In agony we groan.
The Lord replies, but we don't listen,
"I am always here."
We carry on in deep depression,
Unaware that He is near.
Jesus sees our tears and pain;
He hears us when we weep;
He longs to hold us in His arms;
His love for us is deep.
But we struggle on, sinking faster,
Dwelling on our sorrow,
Feeling sorry for ourselves,
In self-pity we just wallow.
We wait for others to come to our aid,
We feel wounded when they don't,
When we should really make a move,
But our minds tell us we can't.
How can we climb from this deep pit?
How can we find a way?
Then is the time to turn to Jesus,
Then is the time to pray
For strength to face the truth,
That our attitude may change,
Instead of negative we need to be positive,
The Lord this can arrange.
We need to be less sensitive
When the World seems to pass us by,
We need to take some steps in faith,
On God's promise we can rely.
We need to discard hurts from the past,
We need to begin again,
We need to reach out and try new things
To try and ease the pain.
We need to keep searching, holding Jesus' hand,
Asking Him to lead the way,
Asking Him for confidence to follow,
In order that we may
Make new friends to share our lives with,
To enrich our darkest days.
We can make this happen with Jesus,
So let us kneel and pray.
- L. Tedman.
